Welcome to McDowell Mountain Ranch

McDowell Mountain Ranch, or The Ranch, as it is known by homeowners and local businesses. The Ranch is an award winning 3,200-acre master-planned community nestled in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains in northeast Scottsdale where the natural beauty and serenity of the mountains, along with the unique ecosystem of the Sonoran Desert makes for an ideal backdrop for homes.

This community, which was first conceived in 1992 and then opened to the public in 1995, is made up of 26 distinct neighborhoods, built by 14 different builders, and comprises almost 4,000 homes. Over $130,000,000 was spent on infrastructure and site improvements which included miles of paved and natural trails, a narrow-cast cable TV station, a Community Center, the McDowell Center, two heated pools and spas, children's playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic and green areas.

In addition, the community offers a wide variety of social and physical activities for residents of The Ranch including an impressive and growing calendar of events which includes 25 clubs reflecting varied interests, a wide variety of children's activities, plus numerous community-wide events, classes, and deeply discounted excursions.

The Ranch sits adjacent to the McDowell Sonoran Desert Preserve and is home to such publicly funded assets as the Desert Canyon School Campus, the Scottsdale Arabian Library, a Scottsdale Citizen's Service Center, WestWorld and the Sanctuary Golf Course. And, if that is not impressive enough, the city will soon be breaking ground on an expansive aquatic park and eventually on a gateway center for the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
