Anthem Arizona by Del Webb broke ground in the summer of 1998 on 5,856 acres. Approximately 3,083 of those acres are devoted to residential acreage, 623 acres are zoned for multi-use, and 2,150 acres are set aside for open space and recreational use. Anthem is located 5 miles north of the Carefree Highway on Interstate 17 in the northern part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The first home was sold in 1999.
